Hi Friend,

Here are some pictures from our November Grand Canyon trip.

Grand Canyon photos

We passed through some beautiful country on the way to Grand Canyon. Here is a picture from a high plateau (Grand Gulch is formed here) looking into the north part of Monument Valley.

Most Monument Valley photos have a lot of red. Hard to do with the Sun in your face. But monochrome isn't too bad.

Here is Mary Lea on the Hermit trail. One hundred years ago, this was the main tourist trail but it is more rugged now.

I've kayaked through the Grand Canyon several times, so I'm fascinated with the rapids. This one is Hermit. It is benign now but in 2004, it flipped a raft in our group.

It was fun to hang out near the river and look for things to shoot. For one thing, here is what camp looked like

Here is a simple thing - just light on rock.

And something you see all the time. Sand (in one form or another).

Here is a wildlife photo.

A picture of flowers. The limestone rock background reminds me of jagged mountains.

Hiking in the canyon involves some narrow canyon walking but it is often an expansive experience.

For those who think there aren't any pictures of the photographer.

=====================================================================

And here are a couple of shots that I like that have nothing to do with the Grand Canyon. The first one, you may have seen already.

I took the first one a few moments after I had a depressing thought that I might never see another interesting scene to photograph. I was walking from the bathroom to the bedroom early one morning and saw the shadow. It encouraged me to always keep an eye open to possibilities.

I took the second picture months later but the color of the light was much different.
